I watch programs

I watch programmes

And in the pauses in between

I can't remember

What I was watching

I hear music

And in the talking in between

I can't remember 

If I was listening

But later I'll hum a tune

Can't remember what it is

But I'm sure it's coming soon

Think of things along the way

If I could do it all again

I'd probably watch all the same things

I read books

I look for meaning

And forget what I was reading

When I'm talking

In the spaces in between

I can't remember

What I was saying

I watch programmes about traffic wardens 

And men in shops

I watch programmes about villains and cops

I watch programmes about you and me

Who complain about TV

I watch programmes about the man next door

I watch programs about what a computer's for

I watch programmes and wait for something to inspire me

And we all watch

It's not good enough

But we all watch

I have no choice
